7th Announcement IPC 11

Information on transportation alternatives, presentation guidelines for authors (orals and posters), “Penwine” evening, miscellaneous

Transportation options

We present you with several options to travel from Santiago International Airport (SCL) to Viña del Mar. We strongly recommend you to use official transportation services (https://www.nuevopudahuel.cl/official-transportation?language=en). We want you to arrive safe in Viña del Mar and enjoy our congress.

Please note that our congress venue, Hotel Bosque de Reñaca (https://xn--hotelbosquedereaca-10b.cl/), is also locally known by its former commercial name: Conference Town.

A) Bus

The cheapest (but slowest) option. At the airport go to the bus station and buy directly your tickets from either one of the two bus lines: Turbus and Centropuerto (see map: https://www.nuevopudahuel.cl/airport-map?language=en). Both lines take you to the “Pajaritos” bus terminal in the outskirts of Santiago.

Centropuerto (https://www.nuevopudahuel.cl/services/centropuerto?language=en):  Takes you to Pajaritos for $2,000 CLP ($2.50 USD), you can pay directly in cash to the driver or buy tickets with credit/debit card at counter. Buses depart every 30 min.

Turbus (https://www.nuevopudahuel.cl/services/turbus-aeropuerto?language=en): Takes you to Pajaritos for $1,600 CLP ($2 USD), you must buy tickets at the counter with cash, credit/debit card. Buses depart every 10-15 min.

When you arrive at the “Pajaritos” bus terminal, get to the counter and buy your tickets to Viña del Mar. We recommend you the following bus lines to Viña del Mar:

Condor bus: https://www2.condorbus.cl/
Pullman bus: https://www.pullmanbus.cl/
Turbus: https://new.turbus.cl/turbuscl/

Depending on the day and time, prices may vary between $5,800 and $8,000 CLP ($7–$10 USD). Buses depart every 10-20 min.

When you arrive in Viña del Mar we recommend you to take an App transport (Uber, DiDi) to get to your place. Avoid using public transport.

When getting back to Santiago, please note that Turbus offers a direct service from Viña del Mar to Santiago airport. More information on their website.

Keep in mind that bus terminals are very busy places. So, please, keep always an eye on your personal belongings. “Skuas and jaegers” are always looking for a penguin to kleptoparasitize.

B) Transfer services

This is a good option for a direct trip from the airport to your hotel in Viña del Mar. At the airport go to the Transport Center (see map: https://www.nuevopudahuel.cl/airport-map?language=en).The two recommended transfer lines are:

Transvip: https://www.transvip.cl/
Wetransport: https://wetransport.cl/

You can either choose a car (up to 3 passengers) or a van (up to 7 passengers) and divide the cost among passengers. Prices vary between $95,500–$112,000 CLP ($116–136 USD) for the car option and $128,000–130,000 CLP ($155–158 USD) for the van option. Payment is possible with credit card.

C) Taxi

This is a good alternative for a private trip. At the airport Transport Center you can go directly to the counters and ask for taxi options(see map: https://www.nuevopudahuel.cl/airport-map?language=en).

A direct trip to the congress venue (Hotel Bosque deReñaca) should cost around $120,000 CLP ($150 USD). Payment is at the counter with credit card or cash (Chilean currency). Check options at: https://www.taxiaerosantiago.cl/.
